Training run this SATURDAY APRIL 26, 2014 AT 7:30 am for the first loop (12 miles) with an option for 8 miles.
Meet at the start of the Heritage Trail in Goshen at 7:30 am for the full first loop (GPS address is 28 St. James Place @ Trailside Treats).
If you would like to do the first 8 miles of the course, meet at the entrance to the trail on Hartley Rd. at 7:10 am for a ride to Goshen for the 7:30 am start (please let us know if you are doing this so we have enough room in cars to transport people to Goshen). Hartley Rd. is off of Route 17M between Middletown & Goshen across from Lam Electric at 2681 Route 17M, Goshen NY (the trail entrance is about 1 mile in on the right from 17M on Hartley Rd.).
There will be water & Gatorade at mile 8. The course will be marked at all turns with a white arrow with the letters “HM” and written directions will be provided.
All paces are welcome – hope to see some new and old people (as in people from last year, ha!)!
The 18 week training program for the Hambletonian Marathon officially starts mid-June but we will be starting to get back out on the course as of this weekend. Check here or on our facebook page for the current training run (posted usually on the Wednesday before the weekend).
For more information, contact Kathleen Rifkin at (845) 527-3825.
TRAINING RUN THIS SATURDAY 1/25/14 – FIRST LOOP OF THE COURSE (12 MILES) AT 8:00 AM.
Meet in Goshen at the start of the Heritage trail for the full loop, or if you’d like to do 8 miles, meet at the beginning of the Trail on Hartely Rd. (accessed from 17M at Lam Electric, about 1 mile in) at 7:40 am for a ride to Goshen for the start.
We may modify the first loop and head back to Goshen a different way just before the 8 mile mark depending on the condition of the Heritage Trail – we will decide that day.
Hope to see you there!
Any questions, call Kathleen (845) 527-3825
Hello Hambletonian runners!
We will not be having any training runs until after the holidays (tis the season to be busy!). In addition, snow on the trail will prevent us from running on the actual course for those portions (we would have to find an alternate route).
Stay tuned after the first of the year and hopefully we’ll be able to schedule a few runs before training for 2014 starts again!
Look for 2014 registration to open just after the first of the year.
Happy Holidays to all!
Training run this Saturday 12/14/13
Second loop – 14.5 miles – meet at the start of the Heritage Trail at Trailside Treats at 7:30 am (note time change to try to get ahead of the snow storm).
If anyone wants to do 10 miles, be at the Chester Depot at 7:10 to leave you car there and get a ride back to Goshen for the 8am start.
I will put water & Gatorade in Chester so carry enough for 10 miles.
Hope to see some of you there!
There will be a training run held on Sunday November 24, 2013 on the first loop of the course (12 miles for the full loop). Meet at 8 am at Trailside Treats (28 St. James Place, Goshen) at the start of the Heritage Trail in Goshen. If you would like to do 8 miles, meet at the Hartley Rd. entrance to the trail (off of 17M across from LAM Electric) at 7:40 for a rid to Goshen for the 8am start (let me know if interested in this option so I can know to except you).
Please contact Kathleen Rifkin if you have questions at (845) 527-3825.
We will be holding runs occasionally on the course over the winter (weather permitting) so check here for announcements!
A donation was made on Thursday, November 21, 2013 to the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley of $15,000 from the proceeds of the Hambletonian Marathon & Good Time Trotters Relay. This, in addition to $9,000 that will be donated to the Orange County Citizens Foundation for improvements to the Heritage Trail and some other miscellaneous “thank you” donations, brings total proceeds from the inaugural year to $27,000!!
Thanks to all who sponsored, helped and ran!!
